Halloween 2017

We just couldn't help but bring some Halloween Disney magic back to Bainbridge Island, plus my kids absolutely adore Mickey Mouse, Donald and friends so it was an easy choice for a simple costume this year. This was also my first year doing trunk or treat and I think it looks great!

Winslow Way is so much fun on Halloween!

We went for a morning walk in our woods before school and little Mickey stopped every couple of minutes to make sure his tail was still on. The cutest.

Professional Pictures, Fall 2017

Thank you Christina Servin Photographs for the treasured family pictures. We took these pictures on my mom's private neighborhood beach in Port Gamble.

We loved them all but here is a sample of some of our favorites.

Routine EEG and Worrisome News

Our latest EEG was as difficult as you would probably expect. You would think the kids would get used to it, but honestly at this age even three months means a whole new stage of development and probably just enough time for them to pretty much forget the previous exam.  Long story short, the readings came back with some confusing news. Though the EEG didn't show any deterioration indicating uncontrolled seizures, the reading came back really "slow." Actually so slow, that when the new ARNP from the neurology office called to go over the results with me she asked, "Well is he walking? Talking?" When I answered perplexed that of course he did those things, she seemed genuinely shocked and said something to the extent of that's amazing, because his background brain wave length came back so slow, she was expecting very little development.

We got that news while on our Newport Beach vacation, so naturally I was a little shaken for a few days, but eventually shook it off because overall we see Miles and he seems to be doing great. I don't know why his readings came back like that, we hope it's because we had just increased his vigabatrin following his weight gain, but whatever the reason there is no point in worrying about it, we are doing all we can. But still...

Disneyland Halloween 2017

Disneyland during Halloween is so special. I love the decorations, the snacks, and the general vibe - it makes it even more magical than it already is. We spent three days there on this trip and my in-laws joined us for the last two. This made it so we could go at a much slower pace and enjoy a lot more of the shows and subtleties that make Disney, DISNEY. We loved having them with us, plus it was so nice having extra hands especially now that Kai doesn't usually nap and is tall enough for most rides. He LOVED big thunder mountain and Star Wars the most; Miles probably loved Small World the most but was happy to be on everything. Both kids loved meeting characters (Buzz, Mickey and McQueen this trip). Also, for what it's worth, lines were never an issue! My kids didn't mind waiting and with Disney's latest magical installment, the Maxpass, we never waited long. My advice is to ALWAYS buy the Maxpass - it rocks.
