Christmas 2016

I said it before and I'll say it again, the holidays are so much more fun with kids around. Kai really got into Christmas this year and we had a light snow in early December that helped catapult our holiday spirit. But, don't get me wrong, the holidays with kids can be exhausting too take a look:

When You Just Need an Excuse to Eat Bread and Butter

I threw my good friend a baby shower themed "bun in the oven" and we went to town with yummy homemade breads, fancy butters and a delectable array of cheeses. I didn't think I'd be able to commit to a party let alone host one only a couple months ago so I'd say this is a pretty big deal and one I'm very proud of. Here are some pictures of our lovely evening:

A Little Background

Once upon a time this was a simple family blog. We travelled, we complained about our neurotic dog, we loved, we laughed, we led a picture perfect life. Then along came Miles, the sweetest little boy with a body full of tumors and everything changed. Miles has Tuberous Sclerosis Complex, a rare genetic mutation causing tumors to grow on his vital organs (among other places). His heart tumors left a damaged aortic valve that was replaced when he was 3 weeks old in a complex open heart surgery called the Ross Procedure. His kidneys are full of cysts leading doctors to believe he also has Polycystic Kidney Disease. His brain is littered with tumors which usually cause epilepsy, autism, behavioral disorders, cognitive impairment and so forth... but not always. Our lives and this blog have changed but we are learning that we can still love, we can still laugh and pretty imperfect lives can still be beautifully perfect.
